Looks like most visitors are Americans but we also have a few visitors from other countries

What does that mean?
Are Americans the only ones that can not get the meds they need?

Can people in other countries get all the meds they need?

Do Americans need more meds than the rest of the world?

Are American doctors really scared to prescribe for fear of the DEA?

Is it the cost?
Is the cost of doctor appointments, tests, and meds prohibitive?

Would Americans be able to get the meds they need legally if they could afford them?

Are people in other countries getting proper treatment, not getting sick, do not need meds, or are they just not talking about it?

This is a mistery to me

Who can be blamed?

We have several here from across the pond. Mainly from Great Britain and Canada. There are a couple that post here that seem to be using a google-type translation service by the way they use the language. My observation has been that even in Europe, with their government funded health care systems, it is still quite difficult to come by, especially treatment with opiods. Because they are government run systems they don't have to worry about an outside government enforcement agency looking over their shoulders...it is already built right in. Politics has already been completely mixed into the health care system, as it is coming to here also. Maybe some of our outside the US members can discuss this too. That would be very interesting.

Hi , i am from the UK. The good thing about visiting a doctor in this country is that you don"t have to pay for any sort of consult. I also think the reason there are only a few English people on here is they don"t know about "nrops" "rops" etc, and to be honest , i"m quite glad as a few people that do this sort of on-line shopping usually use it not for health reasons but to make a quick buck at inflated prices to feed their and others addictions. I am in no way saying they all do that kind of thing but the minority do, especially meds like "hydros" , oxy"s, and basically anything that contains opiates. The down side of our gp"s is they can write a script for a 100 valium which will cost 13 bucks, but if you recieve a script for 10 valium it will also cost 13 bucks, not fair eh ? opiates of any type are a no -no , unless you are a drug addict, then you will have a choice of meth (linctus), subutex, (buprenorphine, or df 111"S which is good and bad as most of it ends up on the streets anyway. have plenty more thoughts on this situation but best keep them to myself or i will end up in big trouble.... thanks for taking your time to read.

My 2cent on this topic

I grew up in Germany with the goverment health care and there was never a problem getting pain relief. My dad suffered RA and I remember the docs made housecalls and even brought meds for pain, that is another reason I also consider moving back home in a few more years since my health is declining and my pain is not getting addressed since I don't have Insurance anymore, but even when I had great Insurance they were so afraid of scripting meds. I used to get 90ct hydros 7.5 every and 120 Darvocet which helped a lot. But now I dont have that anymore...People with real pain issues have to suffer in this country unless you famous or rich

Just my 2cent

oh, one more thing> I think it is a shame that people like us have to pay horrific prices just to get some relief. I hate the thought of leaving the USA but my family has begged me to come back and get proper care soon. I'm only 47 but my joints are so worn out and the pain is untolerable already...and my money is running out trying to find options...It makes me just sad

Smiler You can edit and ad to your posts Razzer

That makes sense. If going to the doctor, and tests, are free you can go as many times as needed

Looks like American doctors that do not want to treat someone just put them through many tests and ask them to go to specialists so they simply give up due to the high cost involved of proving the doctor wrong.

Makes you wonder how much money some doctors feel you have to spend to prove you need the care you seek.

If things in Germany are as you described them. The system tends to give patients what they want so they do not have to spend so much money on them

AWESOME POST ADMIN. YOU ARE SO RIGHT!

NORTHERN GIRL I AM SO SORRY YOU ARE SUFFERING NEEDLESSLY.

I HOPE YOU GET THE RELIEF YOU DESERVE. I WISH I COULD HELP. IT MAKES ME SAD TO SEE PEOPLE LIKE YOU TREATED SO UNFAIRLY.

HANG IN THERE. I AM HANGING RIGHT BESIDE YOU. I HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN THERE AND THOUGHT I WOULD NOT SURVIVE THE PAIN BEFORE I FINALLY FOUND A PM DR TO SCRIPT FOR ME.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE NAME OF HIS GAME IS CASH NOT PATIENT QUALITY OF LIFE. HE RUNS HIS PTS. THROUGH HIS CLINIC LIKE CATTLE. BUT IN THE REMOTE AREA I LIVE IN AND BEING DISABLED AND UNABLE TO DRIVE ELSEWHERE I HAVE NO BETTER OPTIONS.
I HOPE WITH ALL MY HEART YOU ARE HELPED SOON AND WILL PRAY FOR IT AND LIGHT A CANDLE FOR YOU!
BLESSED BE!

Here's an idea. Let's funnel some of the money out of the war on drugs and apply it to pain research and drug abuse treatment.

If landmark discoveries are made, let's funnel even more money out of the war and more into the research.

We may find out that the war on drugs is really a fallacy and that drug abuse can more successfully be handled with treatment, instead of incarceration.

Perhaps then, doctors can relax and treat us as they did before the war on drugs, that is, like patients instead of drug seekers.

"but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest."

IT IS SO SAD TO ME THAT IT HAS GONE FROM "FIRST DO NO HARM." TO WHO IN THE MEDICAL FIELD GIVES A DARN.
