It's supposed to be cominmg out soon. It's called Opana (or is it Epana? anyhow...) And there is an extended release version. It's oxymorphone.
I'm taking bets we'll go through the same hysteria that occured when Oxycontin first came out. "We have met the enemy and he is us" |

Opana I think was pulled a year or more ago due to some problems with people combining with alcohol and oding.
now that has been figured out, its back on the market. I hope it provides good pain relief! 15.00 membership until the 31DEC2008! What a great holiday gift to yourself! |

My PM doc SWEARS by Opana ER and says he takes it himself. He prescribed it to me (this is about 3 months ago when I was still seeing him) and the only problem I had was finding a pharmacy that carried it!
My good friend is a pharmacist so I called him when I was having trouble and he said many places aren't carrying it (yet) because it's expensive, it's new and most insurances aren't covering it yet. So, I just stayed with oxycontin (which has never worked that well for me) but I would have really liked to give the Opana ER a try. Hopefully someone here will and can give us some feedback... Its so price prohibitive. At least it is for me.
I'll stick with my oxycontin(brand) its hard enough that way. Thoughts on the Opana ER? Animal-lover go to pharmacies that have a hospital nearby. I have also heard that Albertson's is surprising in what they have in stock. Costco, but they have to order it, and sometimes takes days. 15.00 membership until the 31DEC2008! What a great holiday gift to yourself! |

I wished that I could get a doctor to let me just try oxycontin for my knees.
Around here you mention the big "O" and they immediately go into defense mode. I have never taken one but all who I have talked to tell me it just washes you pain away. I would like that. A day without pain!! Lord that would be a miracle. Hydro used to work but at 4 or 5 a day not much good anymore. |

Doctors rarely prescribe Oxy anymore because the Stasi are raiding doctors offices and pulling licenses. Too bad because there is some perception by democrats and republicans that living in pain makes one a better person much like the christians believe that self abuse and self mutilation is good for penance.

You can do a Google search on Opana and/or Opana ER & get information about the drug directly from the company or from other sources. Have never taken it myself & don't know if any OP provider would prescribe it as it is a class II. I think it bears watching to see how it is received by medical providers.
