I have this bottle of tussionex that says to discard after July 15,2006, but I was wondering if it would still be safe to use it today. I know that it will probably work, but will it make me sick or anything?
safe? I have taken percocet that was almost 3 years old (didn't know until after swallowed). It made me a little nauceous and it was a little weak, but I more than survived. Medicine a month and a half past the expiration date will be fine, unless its been kept in a hot car for a few months, and it would still be fine. you can take expired medication, most will not affect you negatively if its only a few months to a year or so old.
I am no pharmacist, but I really really think its ok.
I definitely think it is fine. Look at eggs...they say they are good for another 10 days or so after the date on the carton! Anyway, the date is just a way of letting you know you've had it for awhile. Yes, the potency does begin to slide but you will still feel the effects of the hydro in it for sure. Remember it is a time release medication not a fast acting one like a regular hydrocodone pill.
