Some of you know, I have had some recent W/D issues. I withdrew from several medications, I do NOT suggest doing a W/D of this many drugs at one time. I had no option, BUT, it could have been fatal. I should have had medical supervision; was not an option for me.
MEDICATIONS:
Methadone (Slow taper/Clonidine
Hydrocodone (cold turkey/Clonidine
Ms.Contin (tapered way too quickly./Clonidine
Alprozalam (Xanax) Slow taper.
If you care to, search Clonidine on Wiki, amazing, easy to get scripted med. but, not if your have LOW B/P. It is an anti-hypertensive, but for some reason they have found it a very effective withdrawal med. as well.
I contine to take my ADHD med. (Aderall) because it helps slow my thought processes, and to remain focused.
And yes, I will be going back on pain meds. end of this month. Because my spine/hips are on fire and I cannot tolerate Ultram nor any of the NSAID'S
Just a thought. Other than my spine, I feel great!
My best, BTW: A lot of people do not realize what a horrible detox a Benzo can be, especially Xanax! Should never be done cold turkey.
David.

Over the years, I have seen some "Taper Formulas"...These, (IMHO) are bogus. There is NO "One size fits all" when it comes to a taper program

ANY Doc. would be willing to help since you are obviously not seeking. They are going to consider your, Ht. Wt. Length of time on the med, your disease process, ALL other meds. you take, INCLUDING the OTC's, any family history of seizure, so on, and so on. He will tailor your taper to meet your own unique needs.

I have not read the above only what Dave wrote, but if this is about tappering, he is write. It is diffrent for everyone, and I mean everyone! no 2 are the same, what worked for me may tear you down or vise verse. So be careful. I found in all my years of trying to tapper you must have a couple things to do it.
1. DETERMANIATION
2. Good Nutrition.
3. A Plan.
4. Be Prepared for the unexpected!!!!!! DIE-a-ree-ah, na-zeee-ah, leg akes, ETC, ETC
5. Stick to the board and post post post it really helps and you have a suportt system.
6. LAST BUT NOT LEAS YOU NEED PRAYER. PRAY UNTIL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT, OR P.U.S.H. PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS.

THAT WILL BE 69.95 THANK YOU, SEE YOU IN 3 WEEKS.

David I hope you get relief from the pain. It aint no fun. I deal with it daily and it's usually not too bad but I ride a horse on Tues and weds so those days I need a bit strong and more. But I like the challenge. man I booted myself off the Internet twice trying to get this post done. I'm sober and it's not even late. Withdrawal can be a bitch but she does go away eventually

Great Post David!

I don't have all those issues but I do or rather did (working on it!) have a problem with Norco. I take a therapeutic amount of Xanax, 2 mg or so per day, but my Doctor has told me that it is dangerous and a bitch to get off those when I'm ready. I assume he will substitute a longer acting benzo for the Xanax, and start a super slow taper. I actually have high BP, how exactly did you ask your Dr. for Clonidine? I've heard nothing but great things about that for opiate withdrawl.

Yes, my Pain Management Doc. told me about it, said all those Certified "Bupe" Doc. are just taking advantage of people,...the med he scripted was cheap, no problem with multible refills (It's not a scheduled med.) It is just rather amazing, at least for ME!...There are other minor tranqs. that are not quite so intense, hell, I have been using them well over 30 years...common sense dictates (or should)
Great talking to you tonight and see you soon!
David

David,
How did you taper off of the methadone?
Was it a slow taper or did you stop cold?
I'm unsure of what you did.
I must say that you have a TON of strength..A TON...I KNOW how horrific opiate w/d is. Methadone is THE worst due to it's excessive half life, no question, pure fact.
God Bless,
Ema

titan it is a strong blood pressure med. name brand catapres. before my brain surgery i was scripted the 1.5 patch. i don't know why but it does work wonders on opiate w/d

my pm dr. uses it with ativan and phenegran for pt.s who refuse methadone or sub.
i hear pt.s brag about how great it works. some of them have said they had no w/d symptoms from hydro.
good luck! blessed be!
