Hey everyone, I posted this on another topic I don't know where, anyway, I just found out that I am having some seriously high liver enzymes (281 and 221, I believe) and they are supposed to be below 40, so I need to withdrawal myself from Hydro, because as you all know tylenol is BAD FOR THE LIVER. I also take 3 10mg valium daily, but my doc cut me down to 1 a day because my liver enzymes are so high, don't know how I am going to live without them, i don't take too many of them, like prescribed, but I do take way more hydro than I should, Please some advise on how to start this withdrawal process. Good news is I have a good many Norco 10/325's left, so I can DO THIS. PLEASE ADVISE ME. DAVID, YOU SEEM VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ON THIS, PLEASE HELP ME. thanks everyone.

.....first thing..are you sure it was just the hydro that got your liver so out of whack? I was on norco many years, and had my blood checked twice a year and my liver results never changed. But ,if this helps,i to had many norcos left, and i decided it was time to stop. So, it takes will power, but just slowly cut down...I went from 6 a day to 0 in a month...no withdrawals at all. But, you have to have the willpower to do this...and with your liver telling you this..THAT SHOULD BE THE WILLPOWER TO MAKE YOU WANT TO....I WISH U THE BEST......

thank you ward, yes, i too take a lot of hydros way more than I am supposed to, I must admit, I am supposed to take one every 4 hours, but sometimes take 2 every 4 hours, so that is a lot, yes I may have some other things going on with my liver, have to have some more tests done, i used to drink ALOT but have not had a drop of alcohol since 2002, but I know that tylenol is a definite NO NO. my family doc said I HAVE TO LEARN TO DEAL WITH MY PAIN without medicine. Easy for her to say, but I do not want to die and I do not want to take anything stronger than hydro, I used to be on oxycontins for about 2 years and i will NEVER forget the horrible withdrawals from them!!!! I want to come off the hydro, well I have to. Do they make a hydro pill without tylenol? Like oxycontin is oxycodone without any tylenol? I do not know the answer to that questions, David, Can you help on that one? Thanks guys for all the great advise and support.

David,
One more question for you, I saw where you said clonodine is very good for withdrawal symptoms. Can I get that off of an OCS or ROP or whatever they are? i am still not sure what all those mean, I have to look them up> I just don't know what to say to my doc except to be totally honest with her and she will put me into rehab and I will lose my job so that is not an option, I have to do this myself. Once again, thanks for all your help.

Hi Happydays!
This is not a scheduled drug. Any Doc. can order it, (unless you have LOW blood pressure of course) They still havent been able to identify why this med. helps halt W/D, but more and more Pain Management Doc's are using it for Withdrawal, or a tapering program. A low dose XanaX is also nice to have around.

Once again, thank you for your good advice!!! You are a very helpful person and I thank you. Do I just tell my doc the truth and tell her I need help coming off the hydro? She prescribed me them, not as many as I take, but she prescribed me them. Also, let me ask you ONE MORE THING (YEAH RIGHT) do you think that vicoprofen would be safe for me to take with this liver enzymes being so high? I know no matter what I take I need to take 3-4 a day MAX. Thanks again for any help you can give. She did tell me that ibuprofen was broken down by the kidneys that is why it is safer to take than acetominophen, but did not offer me any vicoprofen. She does not like giving pain meds at all, but she knows that I have real pain, and she knows the work I do, so she prescribed me 2 a day, but wouldn't give me more than that for anything, she said take something else, of course this was before the liver thing. Thanks again.
