I really need help. I want off the Norco's very bad, but I've been taking them everyday for over 3 years. A low dose, granted, 30 mg daily. I've thought about going cold-turkey, but I am scared. When I try, I sometimes can get to 2 or 3 in the afternoon and start to feel anxiety or if I only take it in the morning and try to not take it at night I get zero sleep. Anyone out there with advice, please, I am desperate to get off this stuff. I have a 16 year old son who is in recovery from his own addictions and even though he doesn't know I am still taking the pills, I do, and I feel like such a hypocrite. Thanks!

DG,

Here is what I would do, especially with the low dose you take. Take each Norco tablet and break them into 2, 5mg pieces. Now..try to take 1/2 tablet instead of a whole one, when you normally take your pill. Also, try to extend the time frame to your next dose. Try that for a while, and soon you'll discover you'll be able to eliminate 1/2 of a tablet during the day. Keep extending the time between doses..and keep dropping 1/2 a tablet say every week or two if you have enough. You should be w/d free if you do it slowly and allow your body to adjust to the drops. OR just tough it out for a few days...3 tablets is nothing, but everyone is different, so you may strong w/d with just 30 mg, where I was taking over 4 times that amount. Good luck..and do some reading..there were plenty of people who tried to give me advise when I was trying to taper...look at those old posts.

DG.

Read this tread too..there is a TON of information out there, and when I asked for help, all of these folks chimed right in! That said, the information is out on the board..so if these threads I've provided don't do the trick, keep reading, you'll find something that will work for you.

Doodlegirl,

Are you under the care of a dortor, whose perscribed these to you? If so, ask him to help you. Ask about suboxon.

If not, there are many good ways to taper and quit as like has already been mentioned.

Another member on the board is sharing his experience with Suboxon, but with 30 mg, should be able to taper off. There are others on this board much more qualified than me, but if you are having that much trouble kicking them, maybe you need to see a specialist who can help you with suboxon.

C'mon, let's get real about perception!
