These Lortabs are killing me! Like the majority of us, my addiction started out legit, but has turned into hell. I barely get by as it is, then I buy these pills which puts me into an even deeper hole. It hasn't come to the point where i've lost anything, but I'm afraid it will if I don't stop now. I probably have 40 pills left, but with everyone I take, I get more anxious when the day comes that I will be out. At first I decide to deal with the withdrawls, but as the first day ends, it's so bad that I can't deal with it. I can't concentrate on anything, I have BAD upper back and leg pains, and just the beginning of the shakes and sweating scares me. My biggest concern is I have a one year old that's a hand full while i'm on the pills. I haven't told anyone about this addiction. I have too much shame, and i'm afraid they will look at me with disappointment. I am so scared what's going to happen when i'm out. I really need some advice on the best way to kick this habit. I know it won't be easy, but it will be worth it in the long run. Thanks! < !--color-->
if you haven't already, i would suggest going to the nearest pain specialist and ask to be put on suboxone. It will take away your addiction to any pain killer, and makes you feel yourself again. I myself have never tried it because i take norco everyday, but have heard from many friends that it works wonderful; i suggest tapering down on your dose's if you don't want to get on sub, either way, we are all here for you if you need anything at all.
Have you read any of the withdrawing/tapering info on this board? There is some great information and you will find you are sooo not alone. Everyone here will help you in any way they can. It is a scary thing especially when you are, lets say privately using. Please do some reading and then ask the questions you need to. Nobody judges here that I am aware of and you at least will have support in whatever direction you decide to take for yourself. I feel for you. NeNe
If I were you judgeing by the symptoms your describing. I would go to an addiction specialist and get myself evaluated. Let a medical person in on what your going through . we of course will support you , but my advice to you is get some professional help..
Cruzer, so many of us here walk in your shoes. I'm so glad you have found us. Try to take a deep breath and think about your options. If you want to try cold turkey, check out some of the threads on withdrawing for different methods of mitigating the debilitating effects. If you want to taper, many of our members have done this successfully and can help. Again, many of the threads in the WD forum deal with this. Many of our members have successfully quit and/or tapered and can help.
Also, try the buprenorphine physician locator (under the thread of the same name) to find a physician in your area who prescribes bupe which is another method to get off and one I'm planning on using myself.
All the info everyone here has gave you is very good, keep it in mind you may need to refer back to this.
Also, I was told some years ago when I had an addiction to "Prioritze" What is the most important thing to you?
You metioned you have a child, so I am sure this baby is the most important thing to you in the world. Sometimes I think shame is a normal response for someone who realizes they are unhappy in a situation that was once enjoyable.
Ask yourself what am I ashamed of and rationalize what thoughts come to you. I think you can do this, otherwise you would not have come to this conclusion.
Don't be afraid to ask for help be it from one of us here or from you PCP. There are ways to make what seems to be a nightmare detoxification a bit more comfortable. It's a hard road to walk, but you will be a stronger person once you meet your destination.
Rosie, you make some really good points. Cruzer, do you have a doctor you can trust? Perhaps you could tap into that resource to help...maybe he/she could help by prescribing ativan, klonipin or other drugs that can make it easier.
I would also suggest going to a pain specialist and getting some bup. It is not easy to do but if you want to stop bad enough you will go through whatever measures possible to stop. I feel for your pain, have you tried anything else for the pain besides lortab? I am on day number 37 of my CT W/D from norco and it was hell at first but it does get better I also have children I have a 6 and 8 year old and I was also using privately, I decided to tell my hubby everything and as scared and ashamed as I was it all worked out in the long run and I am still doing ok. let me know if you have any questions.
As some of the members have already mentioned. You should try to taper yourself off of the Hydro instead of going cold turkey. If you taper off of them then the withdrawal is not so bad if you even have it at all.
Feel free to Pm me or any of our other members. We are all here to help. Keep us posted.
Question Here! Without sounding really stupid, if that's at all possible. What symptoms does Immoduim AD help with. I think I know one, are there others? And Why.
You don't sound stupid at all, it is for the runs and I do believe that it is opiate related somehow not sure if that is true or not, but if you take one or two then it should help alot for the runs, or at least it did me.
Congrats to you on day 37! How is your energy level? You did a smart thing in confiding with your loved one. It helps alot to take the weight of guilt off your shoulders. Keep it up!
You are NOT alone! There is a ton of great support here, you have started to make it different just by coming here and saying that it needs to change. Be kind to yourself and reach out to the strength here! Lil
If at all possible run don't walk to the nearest physician who can prescribe suboxone (aka bupe). I haven't had any hydro in almost a week. Last Wednesday I was in day one of withdrawal when I had an appointment with the addiction doctor. I left his office with no withdrawal symptoms and a prescription for a 30 day supply of suboxone, which my insurance pays for ($8.27 for 30 pills) Since then I have felt really good...no highs, but no lows either. And most importantly no withdrawal symptoms at all. The doctor was expensive, but this doctor is willing to work a payment plan. You can detox in a week or sign up for the long haul and work on an addiction problem, if you have one.
Note: I have removed this post. The information here has no basis in fact and has only served to discourage people from seeking help. Doctors will NOT report you to social services for seeking help for addiction. If you are addicted and you drive your children around high and get busted or leave them alone while you procure drugs, then, yes, the doctor will report you if he is aware of it. BUT YOU WILL NOT BE REPORTED FOR SEEKING HELP. Whatever transpires medically between you and your doctor is privileged by LAW and the doctor legally cannot divulge your medical particulars.
