1. Robotussin Cough Gels (dextromethorphan)- 15mg x 20 pills per bottle - a little under 5 bucks at Wallyworld

2. L-tryptophan - if you can't get it in herbal form, go pick up a friggin huge turkey and shove it on the end of a fork...you can eat it like candy, and it'll make you feel better :-)

3. L-tyrosine - should be available in herbal pill form

4. Big bottle of Orudis KT - generic name is Ketoprofen, and IMO is a better NSAID than Ibuprofen or Naproxen - it will help a good big with muscle achyness. I think the pills are 12.5mg a piece, but I take 6 at a time for 75mg total, and it works wonders. 75mg is what's usually prescribed any how for pain and such.

Oh dear, whatever you've got going, call off work, don't leave the house here's my suggestions

1)NYQUIL and lots of it!!
2)Your favorite movies/all fav foods stocked/choclate/soda/water
3)Immodium-anything anti-got-to-go-to-the-bathroom-constantly
4)IF YOU CAN-for the same problem abovedescribe to any doc/ER that you have IBS irritable bowel syndrome w/diahrea SP?
they can give you a med called Lomatil-I have IBS this works wonders, but use in moderation and will make you sleepy, also you may have stomach cramping along with all the other aches, they may prescribe pain meds though for cramps? Defeating purpose, but the lomatil is perfect if you have to leave the house
5)Tylenol Cold and Sinus-the drowsy kind
6)Centrum performance for men-vitamin
7)Sleep, Sleep and if you can tolerate-let your body rid itself of the hydro-not pleasant
Best of Luck, I feel for ya-I went through this once and didn't realize what it was-thought it was flu, I was not very meds smart then, not much smarter now, I will pray for you. LOTS OF NYQUIL.

If you can do the ER thing, or a walk in clinic, you do need to try the Lomitil. It actually has some narcotic in it. I took it a couple of years ago when I was doing CT. I was told that this med can actually be somewhat addictive. It will ease all of your symptoms. Highly recommended if you can get your hands on some of it.

Tylox,

Everyone here's giving you some good advice on OTC things you can take to help your w/d's. If you can get your hands on some ultram and/or a benzo to take short term, these will help too. Don't know if you want to even think about getting any more prescription meds, but ultram works on several of the same receptors hydro does, just not as strongly. It's easy to get an overnight delivery from some NROP's that don't carry that harder stuff, i.e. hydro or xanax.

If you want me to PM you some sites you can get it from, I'll be happy to. One more thing. If you want to try upping your seratonin (which is what L-tryptophan does) you can try 5htp if you can't find L-trypto. It's a derivative of L-trypto and may not give you as much mental lift, but several people feel it helps them quite a bit.

Good luck,

Missthang

I used L-Tryptophan, L-Tyrosine
Emer'Gen'C vitamin packs
Immodium****LOTS

And Music

Nine Inch Nails when you want to scream with it (the fragile, left is my personal fave)
or Tool Anemia

And then Sarah McLachlan when you want a beautiful voice to relay someone else's pain

And Tori Amos when you want the Piano fingers to tingle your whole body.

Worked for me!

Thanks for all the good suggestions guys!!!! I really appreciate it.

I've noticed a couple of you said "Robotussin Cough Gels ".
Are those better than Tylenol PM or Simply Sleep??
I'm going to try and go to the store and get some Robotussin Cough Gels and some tript. and try those.

I love listening to NIN on Hydro!
Never tried it while dtxing though. Hmm.

Thanks guys!!

Well, that bites. The last time I took it, which was only a year ago, a dentist in Cozumel gave me a couple (don't drink the water) and I could swear it still was pretty good stuff then.

Tylox,

What you're looking for in the Robatussin cough gels or other brands (I take Mucinex pills) is the dxm -- dexromethorphan. It'g generally not recommended as a sleep aid, per se, but it does seem to knock some of the edges off w/d. You could take a sleep remedy along with it at night (I do all the time), but of course, you have to see how your body reacts to any of these things before you know for sure. But just about everyone on the board who's tried DXM during w/d says it helps. I take 2 tablets that have 30mg of time-released DXM in each (total of 60mg). I'd guess that would be the equivelent of one 20-30mg dose for pills that aren't extended release.

Good luck,
Missthang

The NIN helps with the angry part. The other soothes mostly. Tool can be angry and soothing. Regardless, whatever music you pick, you will know what mood you are in and the artist that will make you scream, help you cry, and make you feel like it's all alright
