I've been trying to get off the online pharmacy rollercoaster for awhile but just couldn't take that final step. My story sounds like many in this withdrawal section. I ordered Kratom as a final attempt to have something lessen withdrawals from eliminating pain medication from day to day life. I also have been on erythromycin for the last month for an infection along with my daily intake of lortab. I began to feel ill during the week I tried Kratom. I ended up with a gallbladder attack, jaundice following, labs with VERY HIGH liver levels, and then emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder. Thing is after the surger my bilirubin level increased. Bilirubin levels indicate jaundice, as if you can't just look in the mirror and all you see in YELLOW....MY GOD what have I done with all of this acetaminophen!!!!

I'm sure it was a combination of lortab, erythromycin, and Kratom, along with a stone filled gallbladder that lead to the high liver levels and want to warn others to please be very careful. I now wait on results from a liver biopsy they performed during the surgery. They said my liver looked healthy and this was a normal precaution since they were already in there, but I'm still on pins and needles wondering just what damage has been done and hope my liver can recover. I'm 5 days clean of Lortab and have had no post op pain meds since Sunday 5am. I've had surgery pain and withdrawal shakes and quakes, but I guess you could say I got scared straight.

Hope this information helps others out there who are struggling with this and the real possibilites of liver damage.

im sorry this happened to you, it is not a good idea to take a narcotic and kratom, kratom is for when you are done with pain killers, and also the site i ordered mine from says do not mix with any prescription drugs, must have been a combination of the 3 meds. kratom should be taken by itself moderately. good luck too you, my dad had his gall bladder removed last year, i know how painfull that can be.

I am sorry to hear about your attack. I know someone who had one last year and it was terrible. Did you have any signs before you started the Kraton? I too worry about my liver and GB. on a postitive note I hope your bili goes down and even though you had to get scared straight at least you are off the roller coaster. Keep us updated

I am sorry you are going through this Shinglee. Hopefully it will only get better for you now. I myself am always worried about damage to my liver from all the acetaminophen intake with the pain meds I take. I am happy that I just got blood work done, and my liver is fine. Maybe it was the combination of the two meds along with the Kratom like the poster mentioned above?? Does your doctor know about everything you were taking? In any case, please be careful, and take care of yourself my friend. I hope the worst is over for you, and you have a quick recovery. My thoughts are with you and I wish you all the best.

Hey McShaun and shinglee and everyone else:
Shinglee, I'm so sorry that happened to you. May the road ahead for you be prosperous and well-lit. We're here for you if you need it; thanks for the warning.

McShaun -- Glad your liver is okay. I think it's a good idea for everyone who is on pain meds for a continued and prolonged basis to get their liver enzymes tested, maybe once a year. I just had mine done a few months ago and all was perfectly normal and well. Preventitive medicine is the best medicine ...
(oh, and i've been going to bed early, but I will check out the insomniacs thread one of these days)

I sure wish we knew more about kratom, what it does inside our bodies, how/why it works, etc. I'm taking it, but really have no idea of what I'm doing to myself.

scruffi,

If you haven't already seen this site, there's some good information there. I've yet to get any for myself, but I've been researching it some and am considering it.

I am so sorry you went through such an expierence. I do wish you well that
you will recover fully. I would however like to ask you what is a gall bladder attack
like ?
Is it like a sharp stabbing pain, or do you just not feel well?
Thanks and goodluck,
Alpha

I got my order of it about a week ago, I cannot say for sure what has really happened to by using the
Kratom...I can say this, I will not buy anymore. I made an ER trip, Sunday and today...Blood test and
that was fine. Doc said I had Gastroenteritis-has this week been a bad one?????? The first two small doses
of K was fun, no pain, no appetite, then I began to worry because I wanted to keep going and going like
an energizer bunny, made me sick I think. Never had any psych'-mental type stuff happen-like hallucinations
or anything like that with K. At the end of my "trip" with it, I was about to jump out of my skin and
was so blasted scared. Again I say, I will not do "K" again.

Shinglee, are you still out there? I just now found this thread, and hope your biopsy & recovery went well, but since there are no posts from you since the scary one...???? Just hoping since you hopped off the rollercoaster, you haven't been back to the board, and are fine.
It's always so helpful to get warnings from fellow-sufferers...the more I read, the more I think a whole lot of patients know more than the docs. Book larning is fine, and we couldn't do w/o it, but actually going through what we go through...!

Alpha, in case anybody hasn't answered, they say only bad burns & difficult childbirth are more painful than a bad gall bladder attack. I don't know about the other 2, but my gall bladder was the worst pain, I've had (except for some remarkable inept dentists), and that includes a bad accident. OTOH, some folks just feel queasey & unwell. But Shinglee said his/hers was packed with stones which is usually hideous pain!
