Chargé d’ affaires ad interim![]() |
Several times this week I saw a news flash that there will be a special about something your kids might be using -- and it is legal. Today I saw another clip and the story is about Kratom!
I don't know who is running the special, so if anyone else has information, please let us know. I don't want to miss how they discovered it and how fast they will add it to the "illegal substance" list. |

Manny- I have seen alot of "promos" for Dr Phil's show.....They apparently are doing a show on "it"....they are comparing it to LSD...

Thanks, tt2. That's got to be it. I can't wait to hear his spin on this "evil" plant.
Our cable company is doing upgrades so I can't look at my listings. If anyone finds out what day it is airing, please let us know. |

Wow...really? I've not personally tried Kratom, but I've read on the board that some folks swear by it to help with W/D's and tolerance issues.
I'll check it out on Wiki..(yeah..I know..not exactly the greatest place on earth for creditable information but still...) -SKB |

OK~ Dr Phil is doing a program on , I think, kratom, tomorrow~ Be advised the commercials are referring to it as similar to LSD and show people totally wigging out~so I'm not sure if it will be of value to anyone here and I've never tried it (or heard of it until here)so I'm not much help.....

OK, I went to Dr. Phil's web site & this is the advertisement for tomorrows show. It appears to be more smoking salvia. Which isn't the same thing as Kratom.
Tuesday - November 11, 2008 Risky Teen Behavior How well do you know your teenager? Could your child be participating in risky or illegal activities right under your own roof? One popular teen trend is smoking or snorting the herb salvia to get high, and some kids have posted videos of their “salvia trips” on YouTube. Rebecca says her 16-year-old son, Jerry, smokes salvia, and that he’s withdrawn and failing school. Jerry wonders why his salvia use is a big deal to his mother, because he says she not only allows him to smoke in the house, but she uses salvia too! Dr. Travis Stork, host of the show The Doctors, gives some sobering statistics on teen salvia usage. Rebecca and Jerry both say salvia, which is legal in most states, shouldn’t be outlawed in their home state of Texas. Charles Anderson, a Texas state representative, says he’s doing everything in his power to make sure this hallucinogenic herb is banned. What does Dr. Phil think? Then, the "choking game" made headlines when it was reported that teens were dying or becoming seriously injured by strangling each other until passing out. Britt fears that her son, Kevin, may be starting a new version of this trend. Find out what it is, and watch shocking footage of Kevin engaged in this potentially deadly activity. And, “sex texting" is a new trend where teens send explicit photos of themselves via their cell phones. One mom says she caught her 12-year-old daughter forwarding nude photos of herself to boys and wonders what punishment she should impose. Plus, find out what you should do if you suspect your teen is involved in risky behavior. |

tt2,
You can google it. But it appears to be an herb you smoke. And is a powerful hallusagenetic (SP?) smoke. Very wild, but short lived. It is legal still in most areas, but some states have outlawed it already. Kratom doesn't really get you high or hullucinate. Although I've heard the enhanced formulas offer an energetic effect for some & mellow others out. Depends on the type & amount taken. I've never tried any of those, so I wouldn't know. The plain ground up powder just helps me not WD when off pain meds. But as I understand, it is on the DEA radar as well. |

I swear these people will stop at nothing to control us. I can't believe that we, as adults have to be treated like children. In this day and age I hate the idea that everyone..except US have a choice in how or what we put into our bodies. You can't even get proper pain treatment without going through hoops! First with the Md's..then with the pharmacies..then with our insurance companies. It's so depressing. Now this....I mean enough is enough

They cannot outlaw all the psycoactive herbs in the world. There are so many of them, as soos as DEA outlaws one, another is introduced.
Are they kidding? C'mon, let's get real about perception! |
