I've heard the ratio is about 1mg oxy to 1.5mg hydro. So if you had 5mg oxy that would be equal to 7.5 hydro. Personally, I would say that a 5mg perc is equal to a 10mg hydro. But your mileage may vary.

I've used both and I agree with cali. That oxy hits me hard, too hard. I prefer hydro...knocksout the pian and gives a little mood lift. Oxy knocks me out...no fun there, less you need the sleep. My primary gave me perc's 5mg for one instead of hydro 10mg. The following month I went back to hydro at the same dosage as before the oxy and a had mild W/D's...stomach ache & terrilbe sinus thing going. As for me the I'd say 5mg perc or less = 10 of hydro. u'll have two play by ear as cali said...about the milage. Br

My PA told me percocets were not as stong as hydro. I do think they are though. At least they are to me. It does not make a lot of since to me that you have to have a written script before you can even get them (as in you doc/nurse cannot call a script in to the pharmacy). But you can hydro. If hydro is indeed stronger why can they be called in? Anyway, I guess it does depend on you as a person.

10 mg of hydro is stronger than 5 my of oxy, but oxy is a stronger drug. a 10 mg oxy would blow you away if you compared it to a 10 mg hydro. I got 7.5 oxy's before and I think they were equal to, maybe a little stronger than a norco. JMHO

I agree. I have only had 5mgs of oxy. I took two and they did seem stronger than a hydro.

Your PA does not know the difference between Hydro and Oxys my friend.. Heres a rundown on Pain meds:
Aspirin Tylenol Darvon Hydrocodone(schedule 3) Oxycodone (Schedule 2) Morphine(Sch 2) and Fentenyl aka Duragesic in somewhat of that order.... I know i missed several but this may give you an idea of the strenghts of each med respectively. FyErMoN

I was just going by what she told me. I did disagree with her. When she told me that I thought to myself maybe you should go back to med school. I do think they are stronger.

When I ran out, i got some oxycodone "percocet" 5/325, usually I take 7.5/500 Lortab, I thought the perc's were weak, I got no relief whatsoever, I guess I just didn't like them.

ayeeee? where you from?
Anyhoo, just my 2 cents here, but I feel that when I'm on a large dosage of hydro, which is most of the time, like a 10/500 and taking several a day, taking one perc 5 doesn't do jack. Now, If I take 1 1/2 7.5's now we're talking. Doesn't make me sleepy though. Same energy as hydro, or more. Better relief, but docs never want to prescribe it.
But if I have had no hydro for some time, one 5 perc would probably work well for me. But again, we're all different. I agree that Magnolia's PA doesnt' know alot about meds, everyone knows percs are stronger, that's why we can't get 'em! LOL

You did get the sugar part right too. That's where I got my name. Like I said before I did disagree with her, but let her write the script anyway. I would rather have that anyway. If she thinks hydro is stronger, than let her continue to think that.

Just take one (or 2) then you'll know.

.. although I don't necessarily trust these converters.. and everyone's reaction differs.

Heres whats happened sugar(magnolia). The DEA has stepped in and scared the chiyt out of these Drs. It`s easier for the Dr. to prescribe you a schedule3 (hydro, etc) then a Schedule 2 such as Percoset(Oxycodone). There are 2 reasons that the Drs. do this 1. They can write up to a 3 months supply for Hydro versus having to see you on a monthly basis for 1 script of Percoset(oxy).
I live in a place where pain med has been called Hillbilly Heroin , so the DEA has scared the Docs about writing quantities od ANY pain med; Keep on and we will pull your license ETC. the DEA tells Hillbilly Doc. Hope this clues everyone in. Meanwhile, we, the people in pain.........suffer. Sincerely, FyEr-MoN
