Hi all, I'm still off the Oxycodone. Lethargy, depression, and really crummy sleep/insomnia is in my house. I've resisted using anything except some kratom and most recently have tried some Melatonin at bedtime. I'm not seeing much success with that either.
I've been entertaining getting some Ambien. The lack of a normal sleep cycle is quite unpleasant. Plus as an added bonus I'm still getting RLS aka crazylegs. Ok that's all. "If you are going through hell, keep going." -Winston Churchill |

Good job, both of you. There is no perfect plan but as long as you are going forward you deserve our praise. Have you tried the new things on the market for RLS? I don't know much about them but maybe someone can chime in and share some experience.

I have rls pretty bad even without going through withdrawl and have had success with mirapex. Requip made me very nauseaous (sp?) and klonopin or clonazepam (same thing) can also do wonders for RLS. I will be on a med. for rls probably the rest of my life and so far the mirapex works great~ If you cant get to a doctor to have it prescribed than I would suggest ordering some klonopin. Also the RLS meds can be pretty expensive...but they are a miracle for me!!! Hope that helps~ Sprawl |

EB you are doing good. I'm sorry if you're uncomfortable but you're almost there! You ARE the man. Keep up the good work and good luck with your RLS. Does any of that tylenol PM stuff work for you?

Thanks Ms Mag and thanks Smarty, I'm Hep C sick, so anything with acetaminophen is not allowed. Swim says marijuana, a few puffs is good for RLS.
Sounds like a health alternative. "If you are going through hell, keep going." -Winston Churchill |

Big Way to Go to You Empire and you too Titan.
I hope your side effects go away soon. Definately try to get something for the RLS tho, they definately have options that work. Same with the insomnia. I'm sure you'll feel much better with a couple good nights sleep. Hopefully, no one minds me also recommending it but marijuana if not taken to excess might very well help as well. It is a god-send for naseau and has other great medicinal properties as well. (End of mojoTOKIN's soapbox, hehe) I truly wish you the best tho whatever route you take. You are in my prayers and keep up the great work. All my best, Mojo "I ain't no saint, but I believe in what is right, Amen!"...Kid Rock |

Just got off the phone with my doc, who Rx'd for me Sinemet for RLS
I looked it up and found this: SINEMET* (Carbidopa-Levodopa) is a combination of carbidopa and levodopa for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and syndrome. Any of you ever used this....dopa-dopa? "If you are going through hell, keep going." -Winston Churchill |

Yes, we all have these "dopa's"...primarily dopamine. This dopamine is a very important neurotransmitter, it plays several different roles, and helps with pain reduction, movement of extremities, head, arms, legs, When we start taking opiods, the brain is getting flooded by what it "perceives" as the dopamine neurons, since the brain constantly seeks balance, it will stop producing it's own dopamine. The level of this (psuedo) or false dopamine will be maintained all through the opiod drug use. If you suddenly stop the opiod, the brain is deprived of most of it's own dopamine, and this will manifest in a variety of untoward movements, (Extrapyramidal or movement of the extremities)
thus the "Parkinsons" type movement or what we call, RLS. Sinemet is a drug which will provide Levodopa to the brain, the Levodopa helps nudge the brain into starting to produce true dopamine back into our system, and thus, should help reduce and eventually STOP the RLS, or other untoward movements of the extremites. Thanks David, that clears things up some, I'm almost past the RLS so I'm going to pass on the Rx. I've been running every other day. Nothing hardcore. One mile and then some and I almost feel good again. My back hurts, but personally I think I need to "man up" a bit, because the pain is going no where....no better no worse than before. I'll stay off the oxy until it is really unbearable.
Many here I have learned have pain issues that are unimaginable to me and deal, so I can try harder indeed. btw, good tag quote David. "If you are going through hell, keep going." -Winston Churchill |

The Carbid/Levod is handy. It works, RLS has been curtailed, I'd hoped they'd make me drowsier but at least I'm not dancing in my bed.

Funny, RE: RLS, a freind once described it as, "My head wants to sleep, but my legs want to do a jig"!
