I've read that before. In moderation, I see nothing to be too frightened about.

I think my weekend binge drinking (oops, did I admit that?) is probably just as damaging.

Thank you for sharing, Rosie.

I wonder if we have some members who use Kava that could chime in....

I can chime in a bit of what I know. HTH
In Hawaii about four or so years ago, it was all the rage. I remember going home and seeing kava bars everywhere. My father was really into it, so he took my sister and I to one he frequented. People would hang out there all day. They served the kava in large wooden bowls, which most people drank out of. My sister and I opted to pour them into glasses. We got about 6-7 glasses worth. After about a year the heavy kava drinkers started getting side effects. You could spot a kava drinker because they're skin started being blotchy, white or unpigmented spots would cover they're face, arms and back. While I never found out what the side effects were, I did notice that every kava bar closed. Not for lack of business either, people still frequented them in droves, which leads me to believe the government closed them. Thanks for the info Rosie.

ps: the stuff was nasty. tasted like dirt to me. It did give me this mellow feeling.

Redd, Thank you for the interesting

little tidbit of information. It can't be too

healthy for long term use as in everything I

guess.

Very interesting! I have given my son Kava via a tincture for sleepless nights before. We discontinued use after he had a few nightmares and I learned that is a rather common side effect. I have always had good experiences with Kava when I have taken it myself, but I won't tempt fate.

I take Kava for a good night sleep. I was amazed how it works just like a sleeping pill on me. I have my own little tea that I make with Kava and some other herbs.
Thanks so much Rosie for the post.
